Introducing Projector Plus

Projector Plus is a rebuilt WorshipStorm Projector, and the first thing to know about it is where it runs: open a browser and you are presenting. There is nothing to install, on Windows, Mac, Linux, ChromeOS, or a phone or tablet. It installs to a desktop or home screen if you want it to, and works the same either way.

It is free to present with

Projector Plus has a free tier, and it is not a countdown. There is no trial to start and nothing expires. Sign in with Planning Center and you can:

  • browse your service plans and every item’s details
  • present slides — on the device, to a connected display, or over AirPlay
  • show the media already attached to a plan item — images, video, audio, and PDF or ZIP slideshows
  • read lyrics and arrangements
  • use the built-in slide layouts
  • keep presenting when the network drops, and start Projector Plus offline on a plan it has already cached

That is a complete presentation app, and deliberately so. If someone else prepares the service in Planning Center, a volunteer can run it from Projector Plus without a subscription and without hitting a wall mid-service — including when the church wifi does what church wifi does.

The full breakdown is in What’s free and what’s premium, and the offline behavior — what is cached, and what it can and cannot do without a network — in Working offline.

What Premium adds

The dividing line is simple: presenting a service someone has already prepared is free; changing what is in it is premium.

A subscription unlocks editing lyrics and chords, song sequences, slide breaks and custom slides; custom layouts; attaching new media from your Planning Center library; adding songs to a plan with Quick Song; item settings such as looping; and in-app support requests.

Premium controls stay visible rather than disappearing, so you can see what a subscription would give you. Tapping one explains it and lets you carry on.

Two premium features are new to Projector entirely.

Sessions — several devices on the same slide

Sessions keeps several devices in step, so a presenter, a stage monitor and a confidence screen all follow the same slide. One device hosts and the others join; clients can mirror the output or show a confidence view.

Sessions: syncing multiple devices covers hosting, joining and what to do when a device drops out.

WorshipStorm Viewer — the words on your congregation’s phones

WorshipStorm Viewer broadcasts the lyrics you are presenting to your congregation’s own phones. They scan a QR code or type a short code and follow along in a browser — there is nothing for them to install.

It is for the times the screen is hard to see: an overflow room, the back row, a bright sanctuary, an outdoor service, or anyone who would simply rather read the words up close. You turn it on deliberately for a service; it is never broadcasting without you saying so.

Congregant Viewer walks through a first broadcast, and there is a separate help section for congregants you can point people at.

Subscriptions changed for the better

New subscriptions are bought on the web for your Planning Center organization, and name the Planning Center user who buys one as its manager — rather than tying it to an Apple ID. Any Planning Center user can be that person.

That single change fixes the most common support conversation we have had in ten years — some version of “we pay for this, but nobody knows which account it’s on.” The manager is now a person you can identify on your own roster, and ownership can be moved without anyone hunting for a volunteer’s old Apple ID.

If your organization has never had a trial, subscribing includes a free month on either plan. It converts on its own when the month ends. Free trial and subscribing covers how to start one, and the subscription lifecycle explains what happens at renewal, in a grace period, and if a payment fails.

Projector Classic is not going away

Classic is still on the App Store, still supported, and still getting maintenance updates. What has changed is where new work happens: Projector Plus is the app in active development. We would not wind Classic down without giving subscribers substantial notice and a clear route across — and that route already exists, since a Classic subscription is honored in Projector Plus.

Getting started

Open https://projectorplus.worshipstorm.com, sign in with Planning Center, and pick a plan. That is the whole setup — there is no install step and no account to create beyond the Planning Center one you already have.

The Projector Plus help center covers the rest.
