Using Projector Plus on Android

Projector Plus runs on Android phones and tablets. It is the same app as the iPhone and iPad versions — the same plans, the same editing, the same subscription, and the same Planning Center sign-in.

Coming from Projector Classic? Classic is iOS and macOS only, so Android support is one of the main reasons to move.

Most of the help center applies to Android exactly as written. This article covers the handful of places where Android differs.

Putting slides on a screen

Connect a display over USB-C or HDMI, or cast wirelessly. Projector Plus detects the second display and sends the presentation output to it, keeping your plan and controls on the device.

Controlling slides with a keyboard or pedal

Android accepts the arrow keys and Page Up / Page Down like the other platforms, and also the media Next and Previous keys — which covers most Bluetooth remotes and page-turner pedals sold for musicians.

That makes Android the most forgiving platform for cheap Bluetooth remotes: if it sends media keys or arrow keys, it will work.

Signing in

Sign-in uses a secure web view that works with Android’s autofill, so a saved Planning Center password is offered and new ones can be saved. See Signing in and out.

Updates

Projector Plus updates through Google Play like any other app. There is no update prompt inside Projector Plus itself, and no version ever stops working — see App Updates.

Phone vs tablet

On a tablet, plan-level actions — Viewer, Layouts, Change Logo, Edit Plan — sit in the plan header. On a phone there is less room, so they live behind a layout options menu instead. The features are identical; only where you reach them differs.

A phone also offers a landscape full-screen preview: turn the device sideways while the rest of the app stays portrait, and the preview fills the screen. Useful for checking a slide at a glance without a second display.

If a service is coming up

The advice is the same as on any device, and worth repeating because it is what actually goes wrong: open the plan and let the media finish downloading before people arrive. See Working offline.

Microphone and camera

Projector Plus does not record audio — the microphone permission is explicitly blocked in the app. The camera is used only where a feature needs it.
