App Updates
How Projector Plus updates depends on how you run it.
On iPhone, iPad and Android — when available
Projector Plus updates through the App Store or Google Play, the same as any other app on your device. There is no update prompt inside Projector Plus itself — if your device is set to update apps automatically, you will simply be running the current version.
To check or update manually:
- iPhone / iPad — open the App Store, tap your account picture, and scroll to the list of pending updates.
- Android — open Google Play, tap your account picture, then Manage apps & device.
No version of Projector Plus expires or stops working because a newer one exists, and you are never signed out for running an older build.
In a web browser or as an installed web app
The web version at projectorplus.worshipstorm.com updates itself. Projector Plus compares the version you are running against the one currently published, and when they differ it downloads the new one in the background and offers it to you:
Tapping Reload switches to the new version immediately. The new version has usually finished downloading by the time the banner appears, so the reload is normally quick.
Which version am I on?
The Help screen shows the version and build number at the bottom. That number comes from the running code, so it is the reliable answer to “did the update actually take?”
To force an update now, tap Reload. If the banner is not showing, closing Projector Plus and opening it again does the same thing. There is no cache to clear and no need to reinstall — reinstalling the installed app costs you time and changes nothing.
When Projector Plus checks
- Every time you open or reload the app
- Whenever you return to the tab or bring the installed app back to the front
- Every 30 minutes while it stays open, so a tab left running all week still notices
That last one is why a machine left on the projector desk between services will pick up a new version on its own rather than sitting on an old one indefinitely.
You are always in control of when it switches
Projector Plus never swaps versions underneath you. Even after a new version is downloaded, the running one keeps going until you tap Reload.
Dismissing the banner is safe, and it is not permanent. Tapping ✕ hides it for that version only:
- It will not come back for the same version while Projector Plus stays open.
- Close Projector Plus and open it again and you are simply on the new version — no banner, nothing to tap.
- If a newer version is published later, the banner appears again.
So dismissing costs you nothing. You are not turning updates off, and you are not leaving something pending.
| Tip: If the banner appears mid-service, ignore it. Dismiss it and carry on — nothing changes and nothing is lost. The new version is already on the device and will be used the next time you open Projector Plus, so you can reload at a moment that suits you. |
