Using a Bluetooth Keyboard or Foot Pedal to Control Slides

Connect a Bluetooth keyboard, foot pedal, or remote to Projector Plus for hands-free slide control. If you have an iPad with an attached keyboard cover, that behaves like a Bluetooth keyboard too, so keep that in mind as you read this article.

Keyboard control works the moment your keyboard or pedal is paired with your device. There is nothing to turn on in Projector Plus.

Which keys Projector Plus listens for

On Android, the media Next and Previous keys also work, which covers most Bluetooth remotes.

Setting up a pedal

Bluetooth pedals and clickers such as AirTurn and PageFlip can be switched between several keyboard command modes. Set your pedal to a mode that sends the arrow keys — usually listed as Up arrow / Down arrow or Left arrow / Right arrow. Page Up / Page Down modes work as well.

Any other Bluetooth keyboard or remote works on the same terms, as long as it sends arrow keys or Page Up / Page Down.

Spacebar / Return mode will not work. Some pedals default to a Spacebar / Return command set. Projector Plus does not respond to the space bar or the Return key, so switch the pedal to an arrow-key mode instead.

Projector Plus cannot learn a custom key

There is no way to teach Projector Plus a different key. The keys in the table above are the complete set, and they cannot be changed in Settings. If your pedal cannot be switched to send arrow keys or Page Up / Page Down, it will not control slides.

Troubleshooting

If your pedal is paired but slides do not change, it is almost always on the wrong mode or profile. Check your pedal’s documentation for how to change modes, and set it to one that sends arrow keys.

To confirm which keys your pedal is actually sending, pair it and try it in any app with a text field — an arrow-key mode will move the cursor.
