Help Center Projector Plus Getting Started FAQs and General Troubleshooting

FAQs and General Troubleshooting

Where can I run Projector Plus?

Projector Plus runs on:

  • Any modern web browser, at projectorplus.worshipstorm.com — which means Windows, Mac, Linux and ChromeOS, and phones and tablets too. On a computer you present from regularly, installing it as an app is worth the ten seconds — see Using Projector Plus in a browser
  • iPhone, iPad and Android — the installable apps, coming soon

The web version installs to your desktop or home screen and runs like an app, so you do not have to wait to use Projector Plus on a phone or tablet. The rest of this help center applies to it as written.

How do I connect to an external screen?

In a browser — which is how Projector Plus runs today — it opens the presentation in its own separate window, which you can drag to a second monitor and set to full screen. It is also what you send to a livestream or a meeting — see Getting slides onto your screen.

The rest applies to the installable apps when they arrive.

On iPhone or iPad, connect wirelessly through an Apple TV or another AirPlay-compatible receiver, or use a wired HDMI adapter. We recommend Apple’s own adapters — iOS updates have a habit of breaking third-party ones.

On Android, connect a display over USB-C or HDMI, or cast wirelessly. Projector Plus puts the presentation on the connected display automatically.

Note: If the output does not completely fill the screen over AirPlay, you may need to change the Apple TV Overscan or Underscan setting: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202763

Is there any delay when displaying wirelessly?

With a reliable WiFi connection the latency is barely noticeable and output feels almost instant. Videos can stutter if a lot is happening on the device in the background — push notifications are the usual culprit. Turning off notifications for other apps on your presenting device is worth doing regardless.

Do I have to have a Planning Center Services account?

Yes. Everything Projector Plus presents comes from your Planning Center Services account.

Do I have to pay?

No — Projector Plus has a free tier. You can browse your plans, present slides, send output to an external display, show the media already attached to your plan items, and work offline from a cached plan, all without paying anything.

A subscription unlocks the production workflow: all editing, custom layouts, attaching new media, Quick Song, Sessions and the congregant Viewer. See Free Trial and Subscribing.

The subscription fee covers the continuing cost of developing, hosting and supporting the app.

Do I have to have an internet connection?

You need one to download your plan and its media. Once those are on your device you can present without a connection.

Some things still need the internet:

  • Quick Song
  • Editing lyrics
  • Streaming media (YouTube, Vimeo, streaming audio and video) — these are deliberately never pre-downloaded
  • Starting a congregant Viewer broadcast

If you are presenting wirelessly, your device also has to stay on the same network as your receiver.

What types of media are supported?

Images, video, audio, PowerPoint and PDF slideshows, and streaming links.

TypeFormats
Video.mov .mp4 .m4v, .m3u8 (streaming), YouTube and Vimeo links
Audio.mp3 .m4a, .m3u8 (streaming)
Images.jpg .jpeg .png
Slideshow.pdf, or a .zip of images

You can export a slideshow from PowerPoint, Keynote or Google Slides as a PDF, or as images zipped together, attach that to a plan item, and Projector Plus will treat it as a slideshow. See the Slideshows article.

Does Projector Plus come with any media?

No — there is no built-in media for backgrounds or logos. You can get free and paid media from many sites, add it to your Planning Center media library, and attach it to plan items. Two places to start: CreationSwap (https://www.creationswap.com/) and WorshipHouse Media (https://worshiphousemedia.com/).

If you came here looking for Centerline New Media, their own site no longer opens — a browser shows a security warning instead of the store. Their collection is still sold through the usual resellers: WorshipHouse Media, Playback Media and Shift Worship.

Projector Plus keeps crashing after an update — help!

On rare occasions an update leaves the app unable to start. Resetting it to a fresh state fixes this.

  • In a browser — clear the site data for projectorplus.worshipstorm.com in your browser settings, then reload. If you installed it as an app, uninstall and reinstall it.
  • iPhone, iPad and Android (once the apps ship) — delete Projector Plus and reinstall it from the App Store or Google Play.

You will need to sign in with Planning Center again afterwards. Nothing is lost — your plans and media come from Planning Center, not from the device.
