Using a confidence screen

A confidence screen is a monitor your worship team can see — usually on the floor facing the platform, or on a stand beside the musicians. Instead of showing what the congregation sees, it shows the words they are singing now plus a preview of what is coming next, so nobody has to turn around and read the main screen.

Projector Plus can drive one alongside your normal output.

What it shows

The current slide’s lyrics fill the screen. Below them, Projector Plus previews the first line of the next stanza, so your team knows what is coming before you get there.

That preview is deliberately just one line. It is a cue, not a second slide.

Two rules are worth knowing, because they explain what looks like missing text:

• The preview only appears for songs. Announcements, scripture slides and other non-song items are shown exactly as they appear on the main screen. There is nothing to preview on an announcement.
• The preview stops at the end of a song. On the last slide of a song, or when the next slide belongs to a different item, there is no next line — because the next thing is not part of what they are singing.

Opening it

How you get one depends on which version you are running, and this is the one place where the browser can do something the phone and tablet versions cannot.

In a browser

Tap Confidence on the plan screen. The button reports progress as it connects — Opening…, then Confidence Ready — and the confidence view opens as its own window, which you drag to the monitor your team can see and put full screen.

Confidence Ready is the state to wait for — it means the window is open and receiving. If the button still reads Opening…, the window has not connected yet.

The current slide fills the window and the next line sits below the divider, so a musician reads both at a glance.

It behaves the same way as the output window: ⛶ Fullscreen in the corner, closes when Projector Plus closes, and comes back as Reopen Confidence after a restart. Use the ⛶ button rather than your operating system’s full-screen control, for the reason given in Getting slides onto your screen — the OS control leaves Projector Plus’s orange title bar on the screen your team is reading.

On iPhone, iPad and Android — when available

The phone and tablet apps will not have a Confidence button, because they drive a single external display and that display is always your normal output. If you have one screen connected, it shows what the congregation sees.

To get a confidence screen from a mobile device, use a second device — see below. That is the supported route, not a limitation to work around.

Using a second device instead

If you do not have a spare screen to plug in, you can run Projector Plus on a second device and have it act as the confidence display.

Start a Session on your presenting device, join it from the second one, and set that device’s display mode to Confidence. It then follows along showing the confidence view — an iPad on a music stand is a common setup.

Alerts and the countdown

On-screen alerts and the service countdown appear on the confidence screen as well as the main output, so your team sees them too. That is usually what you want — an alert about a child needing a parent is often meant for someone on the platform.
