Run Sunday from a tablet
Projector Plus is on the App Store and Google Play, which means the projector desk no longer has to have a computer on it. Here is what that actually looks like on a Sunday — and the one thing you still want a laptop for.
Most projector desks have a computer on them for one reason: that is where the presentation software ran. Nobody chose the tower under the table.
Projector Plus is now on the App Store and Google Play, and that reason is gone.
An adapter and a tablet
An iPad with an HDMI adapter runs your service. Plug the screen in and Projector Plus puts the output on it automatically — the congregation sees the slides, and the plan, the next item and the controls stay on the iPad in front of you.
An Android tablet does the same thing over USB-C or HDMI.
That is the whole setup. No computer, no second monitor to arrange, nothing to log into first.
Or no cable at all
On an iPhone or iPad, start Screen Mirroring from Control Center and pick your Apple TV.
You are not left mirroring your controls. As soon as that screen appears, Projector Plus takes it over and sends only the output to it — so the congregation gets the slides, and you keep the plan in your hand. You can walk away from the desk with it.
None of this needs a subscription
Presenting to a screen is part of the free tier. Not a trial, not a countdown — free.
Sign in with Planning Center, open the plan, and a volunteer can put the words up, play the media already attached to your items, and keep going when the network drops. A subscription buys the production workflow: editing, custom layouts, Sessions and the congregant Viewer. It does not buy the ability to finish a service.
The one thing you still want a laptop for
Phones and tablets drive one external screen, and it always carries what the congregation sees. There is no separate confidence output on them.
So if your band reads from a stage monitor, that comes from a second device joined to the same session — not from the tablet running the service. In a browser on a laptop, Projector Plus can open a confidence window alongside the output window and one machine drives both.
That is a real difference, and it is worth knowing before you carry the tower out to the car.
What to do with the desk
Nothing, if it works. Plenty of rooms have a computer that is fine where it is.
But if yours is a machine somebody drags out of a cupboard every week, or one that boots for four minutes while the band is already playing, the alternative is now an iPad and a ten-dollar adapter.
